Rigid Alloy Trainer Rimfire Chassis

This review is definitely among the highest amounts of fun while training I have had in a very long time. As some of you may have read my MDT ESS chassis article my daughter has not stopped asking me to shoot it however she is a bit to young for the .308 however she out grew her .22 cricket within a few short months. That is where the Rigid Alloy Rimfire Chassis comes into play with it being available in Savage Arms rimfire models (excluding the A-17 currently but it is in the works). While I am personally continuing my journey with long range shooting I took this opportunity to both further myself and to introduce my 9yo daughter into the long range rimfire world because she enjoys it as much as I do and I enjoy seeing her happy as any father would. This Rigid Alloy Rimfire Chassis absolutely nailed it with how customizable it is let me tell you about the setup myself and my daughter chose for this rifle.
Rifle: Savage Arms .22 magnum stainless bull barrel
Stock: Odin Works ZULU Adjustable Stock
Pistol Grip: Future Forged S1 Grip
Scope: Mueller Optics 4.5 x 14 x 40mm
Bipod: Harris 6-9”
Ammunition: CCI .22 magnum Maxi-Mag 30gr Hollow Points
This rimfire chassis is a very solid way to get into the long range shooting game in my opinion. It lets you know before you go out and spend some really big money if you even like the thrill of it with some precision rifles having with over a $3,000 price after built. This build in total was just over $900 which in comparison is rather moderate considering the multiple uses you could get out of it. That amount would be easily recouped from practicing rather easily with .22 magnum ammo being around $10-12 per 50 rounds versus .308 or 6.5 Creedmoor being $22-30 for just 20 rounds. Also, it will save barrel life and other crucial expensive parts wear on your permanent long range rifle which in turn when we are talking about $400-700 barrels is a pretty major deal. Not to mention there is an entire class of competition specifically for rimfire rifles to which a lot of people thoroughly enjoy so it is worth looking into. So, as far as the uses for a trainer rifle as well as a junior shooter the benefits are simply amazing as well as much more budget friendly than jumping in neck deep.

All in all, she made some very solid choices when we received the chassis we sat down and started to think what would work for the both of us that meshed perfectly. So, I purchased all the additional parts needed to complete this long range trainer for us and every part that showed up I seen her getting more and more excited. Once everything was under the same roof we assembled everything it might have taken us about 15 minutes total the Rigid Alloy chassis was only two bolts and took about 3 minutes itself but be sure to use the provided spacers though to avoid any feeding issues. All the while I was in contact with the owner Mike Jones and I told him what I was doing with the chassis and he got even more excited he is a HUGE family man we began exchanging family pictures and stories of our children shooting. It was a very pleasant experience dealing with Mike he is a great company owner could not of been more pleased honestly.
So finally, the day came for my daughter and I to get to shoot it I pulled out a few boxes of ammunition and we went to the range and I promptly sighted in the scope in the lead sled for a perfect zero. I started her out at 50 yards and adjust the Odin Works ZULU stock to where she felt comfortable and got a solid sight picture and she was nailing hand over fist one of my 2” steel targets (proud daddy moment). I let her shoot for about an hour and was itching for some trigger time myself so I adjusted the stock to where I was comfortable and began to shoot a bit and started realizing how awesome this chassis would be as a long range trainer. I totally understand that not everyone has the amenities that I have available for me long range practice is a phone call away and I can shoot out as far as I can see because I have access to about 5,000 meters of farmland with a solid backdrop. To have the ability to hone the basic fundamentals for long range at say 150-200 yards is a major step ahead in the game. Think about the benefits of having a totally free floated solid chassis like the Rigid Alloy Rimfire Chassis in your arsenal of training devices I know for sure a 100 yard range is a whole lot easier to find than a 1000 yard one to get some practice in.
I have a fascination with firearm related things that serve more than one purpose and I simply cannot think of money that would be better spent that serves your purpose as well if you are a family man can give you some potentially solid quality time. My daughter has been shooting with this chassis just a few short weeks every single chance she gets and the improvements are just leaving my friends in absolute awe. It is to the point that at 150 yards I have to actually try to out shoot her because she took to long range rimfire like a bear to honey. She is already asking me about competitions and I am actively seeking a few to get her started in because of the smile this Rigid Alloy chassis has started on her face simply will not go away and I feel like I should be supporting that. So, in closing if you are in the market for a Savage Arms rimfire chassis I cannot think of a better option whether it is for you or your children than the Rigid Alloy Rimfire Chassis. With company owners like Mike Jones and the products he puts out we can help secure the future of long range shooting or just simply family time shooting I see this as a very solid winning situation if you have the means to do so. If you are not a family man yet and just want to upgrade the old savage rimfire this chassis is for you as well.  You will definitely appreciate it so there is no losing situation in purchasing one.
