Talon Retention: A Strong Hold of the Standard

Open the safe, press check my Glock 19, test the TLR-1 HL light, and then insert it into the holster. Button down my flannel and then do a few practice draws. It is a routine that I follow on an almost daily basis to ensure that everything functions before I head out of the house for the day. Over the past month I have had the opportunity to test out the Talon Retention Delta Series Light Bearing Holster for OWB, along with the Double Magazine Pouch for OWB.

Honestly, I was skeptical at first because the holster, when it wasn’t mounted on my belt, had a heavy retention on my pistol and there was no way to adjust the retention. I asked some of my buddies about some suggestions to remedy the issue. It turns out that the 5.11 TDU Belt that I wear does not have a stiffener and it flexes with me trying to draw the pistol. I changed my belt out to a stiffer leather type of belt and the heavy draw went away. The next thing that is on my list to upgrade for my EDC is a new belt.

I am impressed with the quality and craftsmanship of the holsters. They took two pieces of kydex and beveled all the edges so that they are smooth and do not cut the user. They took the time necessary to blend the two separate pieces together to make it look like one single piece. The belt loop attachments are solid and should continue to hold up for years to come. Talon Retention also placed their company logo on the outside of both the holsters and it has not worn off yet.
This is a company that is on par with some of the larger names in the industry, Bravo Concealment is one of the. I would honestly trust my life to these holsters. They retain my magazines and Glock that would prevent anyone from attempting to take them off me. When I wear an over shirt for the colder weather, from Autumn and Winter, there is minimal to no printing, yet it still allows me easy access and drawing for my Glock 19.

I have been wearing this holster more than my Bravo Concealment OWB holster. I believe it to be more comfortable and offers me peace of mind that zero mishaps would occur. Kydex is some of the best material on the market for safe action pistols, much like Glock, because there is no chance of it deforming due to exterior conditions.

Do yourself, and everyone around you, a favor by investing the time and money into a quality holster from Talon Retention. They will take care of you as a customer and having quality gear gives you an edge over the guys who by Uncle Mike’s Holsters. Quality gear does not make you an expert by any means, so I suggest that you take the time to train on drawing and re-holstering techniques from a variety of positions.
