Over the course of the last few weeks, we have been involved as a nation in things that we hope never occur. Mass shootings are something that is a frightening reality in this day in age. We have seen it happen in schools, churches, stores and nightlife areas. We have seen things come from politicians that have been in regards to gun control, more expansive background checks, body armor bans, etc.
What I want to touch on is the body armor ban that Chuck Schumer has referred to in legislation that he wants to provide Congress once it reconvenes in the fall. He has referred to armor sales being regulated by the FBI and in terms of buying armor in general, he has said that” a good number of those who are intent on mass shootings buy body armor.”
To me, it seems as though he has no discrimination on anything that has to deal with the Second Amendment or items that may pertain to the Second Amendment in any way shape or form. Individuals like Schumer have made it clear countlessly time and time again that they do not care about the protection of law-abiding citizens throughout the country.
Let’s face it, people, we live in a country where a vast amount of States do not allow individuals to protect themselves with their Second Amendment. A good amount of the 13 Original Colonies that fought for their right to declare independence from a nation across the Atlantic, have now gone against what they fought for all those years ago when it comes to firearms.
To limit the right of the people to defend themselves with firearms is completely insane, to begin with, for those who have the Right to Bear Arms. When individuals can not and you intend to limit; if not completely take away any form of protection from an attack such as a mass shooter, you are doing nothing but putting more lives at risk.
For me, I believe that when it comes to obtaining body armor, it should remain readily available to anyone who may want it. There have been excellent strides in innovation in terms of different types of armor in circulation. From hard armor to soft armor full body shield and even backpacks that house armor plates in between the spacing in the back; there are many ways you are able to provide protection to you and your loved ones.
The stance I take on armor is as strong as the stance I take on how everyone should be able to own a firearm. I believe wholeheartedly Schumer is adding to the death sentence that all gun grabbers are dishing out to law-abiding citizens. Without the right to defend yourself in any way, the individuals in the Government who are following Schumer on this path will be just as guilty in the deaths of individuals in incidents along with the potential shooters themselves.
