DoorJamm: Opening Doors for All First Responders

Doors are something that can be beneficial to individuals when it comes to certain emergencies. With the benefits to just about everything, there are certain drawbacks that go hand in hand. With this in mind, we see that it could impede on the time it takes for first responders to reach the area that they are needed in because let’s face it doors tend to lock, right? I always search throughout the Internet and Social Media for new items that can benefit anyone in the world no matter who they are. Now I have found a company that has taken the thoughts that I have for First Responders and produced a solution that can make things a lot easier for these individuals.

The company that I have found is named Door Jamm. This is a company that has found a simple product, that is able to be extremely beneficial to many people. The product that they make is pretty simple, a piece of a thin piece of rubber with 2 holes at either end attached around both handles of a door and holds the bolt back allowing the door to freely open and close without the use of the handles. Pretty simple design and application I would say, right?  So since I do not work as a First Responder, I decided to bring it to a few professionals that work in the field, to take notes on their initial reactions to Door Jamm.

The first thing that they commented on about the Door Jamm is the fact that they can easily keep it in a bag or a pocket when they responded to a situation and it would not get in the way of anything that they are doing. I had to agree with them, I put myself in a mock scenario and put the Door Jamm in my back pocket and began to run a few yards in order to get a feel for the Door Jamm on my person. I have to say with it being so small and the fact that it was extremely light I did not feel the need to be worried about any obstructions that could impede at the task at hand.

After this, I had the individuals that decided to help me with this product review, put this to use. We used an office door and applied the Door Jamm to the handles to see how they would hold up when it came to it being put directly to use. Let’s face it door handles are all different, this door that we used had handles that were a bit closer to each other. We applied the Door Jamm to the handles, and it kept the door from closing,( which is exactly what we want when it comes to an emergency.) The fact of the matter is that it stopped the door from closing, but it did not keep the bolt back. I don’t blame this on the product, but I would not mind seeing a different size in Door Jamm Products.

Overall, I would have to say after seeing individuals use this product, I can see them making more of an appearance with local police and paramedics. They are extremely helpful and they are extremely light, along with not taking up any space at all if you were to either carry it in your pocket or on your kit. The design is extremely simple, but beneficial and I believe that Door Jamm is on the right track when it comes to this product.
