ATI Outdoors TactiLite Kit

ATI Outdoors sent me some upgrades for my shotgun. I have always had classic shotguns, from my first shotgun a Savage Model 30D to my current love a Mossberg 500. I have taken her out countless times. Between me and the original owner we’ve shot thousands of rounds through it. But as with all of my previous shotguns it was never right for home defense or close quarters drills. My Mossberg had a 30in goose barrel so before I received the gear from ATI, I decided to buy a new 18.5in barrel (always keep that .5in, just in case).

I was sent three items from ATI, first is their TactLite Shot shell holder, the TactLite Shotgun stock and the Shot force forward pistol grip. This all will come in the TactLite Kit eventually as it is not up on their website yet. First there is the shot shell holder, it is just that a simple shot shell holder, it holds the rounds well and they don’t move at all. It works well and can be connected to either side of the stock.

The stock is the big item, it works just like any AR stock. But the attaching the stock is very simple. It uses a simple Allen wrench to attach into the receiver. Where I had issues was removing the original Woodstock from the Mossberg. This screw was never removed and was very hard to get it out, I had to McGuiver a screw driver to get it out. Once I got the original screw out I was able to fit the new stock to my receiver. The foregrip was even easier, they send instructions with the grip to make sure you have the proper fittings. Installation went smoothly after I figured out what was needed for it.

I was finally able to get to the range and I wanted to test fire it with the new upgrades. I pulled it out of the rifle case and started shooting. My barrel is rated for 2 ¾ and 3in shells. I have collected a wide variety of shells and tested them all to test the upgrades. Ranging from 3in magnum steel shot to 2 ¾ target loads. I used a few 00 Buck to test the recoil and the recoil pad mitigated and I was able to shoot all day and I was able to keep on target pretty much every shot due to the fore grip. The Fore grip after being tightened down still had play in it, but that is fine because it can be moved slightly from side to side depending on where you want it for your shooting style. I loaded up the side saddle and moved around the range trying different positions and the side saddle held the rounds in without any movement.

My final thoughts, I love the ATI Outdoors upgrades to my Mossberg 500. With the ease of installation and how it functioned after it was installed.
