Apex Drop-IN Glock Gen 5 Trigger Kit

So, we all know that Apex Tactical is famous for being one of the first to the market with their new triggers. When the new Gen 5 Glocks hit the market around august I was fortunate enough to get on the pro-order list through a gun shop owner friend of mine. I got the Glock 19 first and it shot pretty well out of the box however, I always prefer a flat trigger shoe and none were immediately available that I could find. So, I was stuck with the factory trigger for a short period of time due to the redesign Glock had done to the Gen 5 trigger. Although, the factory trigger is not to atrocious they did get rid of the finger groves and a barely noticeable amount of over travel compared to the Gen 4.
Finally, about 2 months after I got my Gen 5 Glock 19 I began to see some of the R&D posts online from Apex Tactical and started watching them a little closer. They put in a bit more work switching from Gen 4 to gen 5 because of the new trigger bar and trigger mechanism housing. Shortly afterwards they released their flat trigger but from reading their blogs they still claimed between 5 – 5.5 pound trigger pull. So, my personal requirements were only halfway met as my ideal trigger pull is between 4- 4.5 pounds leaving me at the mercy of the market availability which was close to zilch at the time. The wait was not long thankfully they came out with their Action Enhancement Trigger Kit that included the trigger as well as the trigger connector.
So, I jumped at the chance to review the Action Enhancement Trigger Kit from Apex Tactical as it met all of my needs and I was curious to see the end product. Glock had made installation super easy for the consumer with only two pins and the entire trigger mechanism comes out so installing this upgrade took about 4 minutes total. A small punch and hammer and a small flat screw driver was all it took to install followed by a functions check. Apex Tactical had claimed a 4.5 pound pull so that was one of the first things I had checked so I got out my trigger pull gauge and indeed verified it was actually directly on 4.5 pounds. I am also extremely happy with the reset as it is very minimal compared to the factory trigger allowing for faster follow up shots if the need ever arises.
The reason I personally like the flat style trigger shoes so much is simple, it lessens the chance of a mistake on trigger placement in my opinion. I simply put the center of my trigger finger on the safety as its where my finger goes naturally. In my opinion with a flat trigger you have more surface contact area for a slightly more evenly distributed trigger pull. Now, I am positive we all have our own preference when it comes to a pistol trigger but it is definitely a recommended upgrade if you spend longer than an hour or two on the range. The good part is that if you prefer an even lighter trigger pull you can put a mirror polish on the trigger bar and trigger connector and generally shed another half a pound off the pull as well.
We all know Apex Tactical puts out some very solid and well thought out products, I would even go as far to say that some pistols, they have completely saved trigger wise. In my opinion, a trigger can make or break a pistol I cannot remember a time hearing someone say they love the long and heavy trigger pull or excessive over-travel or a long reset. Apex Tactical has an MSRP on the Gen 5 Action Enhancement Kit of $124.99 which I feel is very competitive in the current market as some are $40-70 more for essentially the same thing. So, if you happen to be in the market for a drop in trigger for your Gen 5 check out the Apex Tactical Action Enhancement Kit. bonus, if you follow them on social media. they have lots of holiday or flash sales quite often and might even save a few bucks for an even better deal!
