Timney Triggers , Here We Go!!

When it comes to building, and upgrading a rifle. The first thing that comes to mind is what kind of trigger can I put into my rifle. Many people ask this question, and many people have different answers. Some people will say just change out the springs and polish the triggers. Others will give you a list of different companies that are out there that produce triggers, giving you an even longer list on why their triggers are the best. I decided to dive into this and search for a trigger to put into a build that I would find most beneficial to the standards that I demand of it.

Enter in the coveted trigger from the company known as none other than Timney. Timney Triggers is a well-respected company in the industry. They are known for their time in the industry, along with the amount of quality that is put into every model for their products. With the amount of time, and experience that they have put into their work, I was more than excited to be given the chance to review a product of theirs.

The trigger that I was able to obtain and review from the company is their 2 stage “ AR Targa Long trigger.” When I first received their trigger in the mail, I noticed something that had caught my eye. What this happened to be was the weight of the trigger. The weight of the trigger was something that plays a big part for me. In my builds, I make sure that there is no unnecessary weight in my rifle where it doesn’t need to be.

Following the weight of the trigger, I had to install the trigger into my rifle as soon as I could. Being that this trigger is a drop in trigger, installation was more than easy. I was able to drop the trigger in no problem, put in the anti-rotation pins, and was good to go. All in all, the trigger installation took me about 45 minutes, only due to the fact that I had to pull the pins from one build to put into my new one. With this being said, I have to give top marks for the installation process of the 2 stage Targa Trigger.

After the installation of the trigger was done, the next phase in the process was to perform a function test of the trigger. Giving the trigger a pull, I could definitely tell how light the pull was. The pull was smooth and effortless. Following this, I noticed that there was very little reset to the trigger. This gave me inclination that when at the range, be prepared for an interesting time.

I followed up my research on the trigger with a performance check. Up until now, I had noticed superiority in the craftsmanship put into the Targa. It was well made, installing was easy, functions test proved that it was working correctly. The next step was the main test, an experience that I was excited for. I loaded up my gear and went directly to the range as soon as I could. Setting up the targets, and performing one last functions test, I went to town with the trigger. After I was finished at the range, I can fully say that Timney makes a superior trigger that I can see putting in future rifles.
