The VYPR from STNGR USA is the lightest free float rail that they sell which is pretty nice because we all know the saying “pounds equal pain”. Although it lacks some of the frills that the HWK or RPTR have to offer I don’t necessarily believe that is a bad thing considering it gives you the maximum amount of rail space. So, for you the end consumer you get what you want with all the options you will be adding to the hand rail itself. In my opinion, what I would generally look for before purchase is functionality, versatility, overall looks, and weight. STNGR USA hit top marks in every category with the VYPR.

Let’s get to it, so when you order from their website you will get updates to your email so you can track your package (which believe it or not, not many companies do sadly). Handling time is rather minimal as well they get it shipped in a day or two and it gets to you pretty quickly. So, your delivery driver is going to hand it to you and you will get all giddy and shred the box open and you will be shocked. Because they package these rails like their made of glass, completely surrounded in foam and a solidly snug fit so nothing moves while shipping. The next thing you will most likely notice is that all the tools (aside from the torque wrench) are provided.

Moving forward to the install, I love barrel nuts that do not have to be timed so much STNGR USA had to have known how much people hate torqueing to that next slot. It is so easy to install! Throw on your barrel nut and torque it to spec I generally torque to 45 pounds with some blue Loctite. Then slide the handguard itself over your barrel and low-profile gas block you will also notice the extended tabs on the handguard to ensure perfect alignment. Now you will notice a middle tab for the clamshell type attachment you will want to make sure it goes in with the little notch up to lock it even more firmly into the barrel nut. Now when you install the two screws through the middle tab take your time and torque them multiple times, to ensure a very solid snug fit.

Whenever I use Loctite I generally will go run about 60 rounds to heat it up and then I will let it sit for about 24 hours to set properly (also to test fire the build). So, I waited overnight and took it to the range and that’s where the magic happened. I was very thoroughly impressed with the overall feel and performance of the VYPR I could run through magazine after magazine and it just felt so right. The slotted vents dispersed the heat perfectly for me and the rail is just far enough off the barrel so you don’t catch to much of the heat radiating from the barrel as well.

All in all, I am very thoroughly impressed with the VYPR and its capabilities scored high in my book on the major factors for me to want to use again and recommend. STNGR USA put a MSRP of just $124.99 on this 15” M-LOK but all their rails are relatively close in price. In my opinion, they are a bit under priced but when you see their warranty they offer you will understand how much they care about the end consumer. Lifetime warranty, 100% satisfaction, no questions, not limited to just the original purchaser, they will fix or replace or refund and to me THAT SPEAKS VOLUMES!
