Overwatch Precision TAC Drop in Trigger Review

U.S.A.-(Libertyreport.co)- A few months ago, I went on the hunt for a Glock that I would transform from a stock gun into something that I wanted and envisioned in my head. I decided on a Glock 34 Gen 4 MOS. I spent a few range trips getting used to the firearm as it is the largest (by length) handgun I have ever used. After changing from the stock Glock sites to a set of Ameriglo night sights, I decided to take the leap of faith and get my Glock’s slide cut. I sent the slide out to Visionary Machine and Design and had it cut and it was cerakoted by Dawn of Defense. I got my dream slide done, but everything below my slide was stock. I had the stock trigger from Glock which is a very rough trigger and has a massive pull and the reset is long. This is good for law enforcement or similar fields because it gives them time to determine if the shoot is necessary. But for me I am a target shooter, I don’t need or want a long pull and I want a short reset.

I decided to start looking hard into a trigger for my gun. I wanted a blue trigger or blue accented trigger. This was a requirement as my gun is related to a very popular series of movies and books and blue is a key color on their sword. After test firing my best friends flat trigger, I decided I needed a flat trigger that was blue. This really brought my choices down. There is the Ranger proof flat trigger shoe with a blue safety, the monarch trigger from Hyve which is blue and Overwatch Precision. I contacted Overwatch Precision as they are a veteran owned company. They got back to me and asked me what I wanted, I asked for the TAC drop in trigger kit with a blue trigger, they agreed and sent me one.

The TAC drop in kit comes with a different trigger housing, springs, trigger bar, connector and trigger shoe. The first thing I noticed before putting this trigger into my Glock was the shoe, it is machined aluminum and anodized to a light blue color. The full kit was easily installed into the frame without any issues, it did as the name said, dropped right in. I spent the first hour after I installed the trigger dry firing it, I tested the pull and the reset. The initial pull is roughly the same as the stock Glock trigger but is much easier to control due to the flat trigger and is smoother due to the polished internals.  But once the trigger is fully pulled and the firing pin released, that is where the real magic comes in. The reset is short, and the second pull of the trigger is much shorter and feels amazing. But dry firing cannot fully demonstrate what the trigger is capable of.

Many people believe that changing a firearm does not help the shooter. For me personally, I can say that this is wrong. I did my first range day with this trigger and I was able to bring my groups into a much tighter radius from each other, my shots were faster and I even did something I had never done before. I took a shoot at 80m and hit the target. I still took a few shots but I felt that I was able to shoot better. The TAC trigger by Overwatch Precision coming in at $175 is an amazing trigger that everyone should consider as a very practical upgrade for both carrying and range work.

Product Description from Overwatch Precision

The Overwatch Precision TAC Trigger Kit is a flat-faced, direct drop-in replacement for your OEM trigger assembly. Each trigger shoe and trigger safety tab is machined in the USA out of 7075-T6 aluminum alloy, and affixed to an NP3 plated, Gen 3 OEM trigger bar by 316 Stainless Steel coiled spring pins. The trigger shoe and safety tab are both Type III hard coat anodized to MIL-A-8625 standard.  Included in this kit is a trigger mechanism and ejector housing, a trigger spring, an NP3 Plated OEM Minus connector, and (of course) our TAC Trigger on an NP3 plated trigger bar. The addition of the NP3 Glock minus connector results in a drop of approximately a half to three quarters of a pound on the pull weight depending on individual tolerances.

The small indexing hook ensures consistent trigger finger placement, and the broad, flat face of the trigger allows a uniquely self-correcting, straight rearward press. The flat face reduces trigger reach by 0.25″, making this an ideal option for smaller statured shooters. Pre-travel has been reduced as much as possible without compromising firearm safety features, resulting in a clean, crisp break, and reduced overtravel. Robar’s NP3 plating provides virtually impermeable corrosion resistance and smooth, grit-free operation
